Q1 (search leads bankruptcy filings): 4/4 cities, all p < 1×10⁻⁵ — a generalizable law
Q3 (search ↔ unemployment, inverse): 4/4 cities, all p < 0.001 — a generalizable law
Behavioral data: Google Trends, 5 bankruptcy search terms per state. Court filings: CourtListener federal bankruptcy district records, /search/?type=d endpoint (consistent docket counts). Unemployment: FRED state unemployment series. Cross-correlation: lag analysis, max_lag=30 months. All four cities counted via consistent docket methodology. Reproducible from open data and the patent specification.
Seven (city × target × horizon) cells survive every audit we publish: shuffle-target placebo at n=30 (and n=100 stress), triple gate, training-cutoff invariance at MIN_TRAIN_MONTHS {36, 48, 60}, walk-forward target-leak audit, and model-choice invariance against AutoARIMA / AutoETS / Theta. Six cells are FEATURE_DRIVEN. One — Chicago HPI 3-month — is MODEL_INVARIANT.
U.S. Provisional Patent Application #64/039,438 — Filed April 14, 2026
The signal finds the people
who know what to do with it.
Government
Get ahead of policy. See migration, distress, and crisis signals before they become headlines or inquiries.
Media
Know which counties are about to spike on a topic before it's a story. Source the second-derivative trend.
Capital
Lead time on macro shocks for hedge funds, municipal bond desks, insurers, and REITs.
Operators
Plan expansion, retention, and risk with conviction grounded in measurable behavioral data.
Mike Perkins
Vinyl is the work of Mike Perkins, a researcher in Jacksonville, FL building a measurement system for the signals everyone else misses. The patent is filed. The framework is open for replication. The next finding will land here first.
See the data. Then decide.
